Agriculture has been derived from a Latin word 'agricultura'. The meaning of the word agriculture as 'ager' - which means a field and cultura - which means cultivation. Further semantics tell us that this word literally means "tillage of soil". The word comprises a broader meaning in today's world. It deals with the prodcution of food and products of farming (crop cultivation and animal husbandry). This noble activity of producing food occupies a majority of India population.
